Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami The Mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami About Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami The organization began as a club for boys. It was not until 1985 that girls were included. There are currently six clubs throughout Miami-Dade County. Boys & Girls Clubs is committed to serving children from all economic levels of society. It is especially important to serve children from disadvantaged neighborhoods and provide them with programs that enrich the lives of children in this community. Who We Serve While this provides for a culturally enriched environment, it also present challenges. Many of these children have not been in this country very long and have struggles and insecurities to deal with. Many parents also struggle and have to work several jobs. It is a relief for them to know their child is in a safe and nurturing environment. It is great for them to have a secure place to go after school and receive homework assistance as well as participate in recreational activities. This builds confidence and improves academics. What makes these programs successful is our staff's ability to modify programs to meet the needs of these children and still provide the same quality programs throughout the clubs. The United Way |
